A Friday Reflection shared from our Suhba Online Program with Shaykh Mokhtar Maghraoui.
Jumu’a Mubaraka!
Cellphones. Earphones. Screens. Memes. Television. New DVD Edition. Instagrams. Internet scams. Email. MeMail. FaceBook. Mind-hook. Get-togethers. So many endeavours.
Studies show that multitasking impairs cognitive performance. Even skilled multi-tasking cannot compensate for quality lost.
What about the effects in the spiritual realm?
Let me dissect my day: When did I last spend quality time alone with Allah?
How can I expect the grace of the Divine Gaze on my heart when my inner eye is infatuated with so much besides Him?
Detach; attach.
The day of Jumu’a is meant to be a return to renewed spiritual vitality and vigour.
But is Jumu’a really more blessed than any other day of my week? Or are my days masking the diminishing returns of my multitasking?
Let’s not forget to read Surat al-Kahf today and send abundant salawat on the Beloved ﷺ.
