After shopping with the kids at a local mall, we stopped by its small prayer room to offer salah. As I sat and stared at the mihrab after prayer, I tried to discern the meanings of the words that surrounded the Divine Name, Allah. It was a futile exercise. I could only grasp potential meanings but nothing coherent in the tapestry of designs.
The possible significance dawned on me slowly. Here I was in a mall looking at all manner of worldly delights. Even though some of them might be purchased for legitimate purposes, I should not let them distract me from seeking only the Divine. In the end, He is the Real and all else is illusory.
